1. Drink lots of water and natural juices- It
is very important for you to stay hydrated. Ice is a complete no-no. Ayurveda
believes ice kills digestion. Iced tea and coffee contain caffeine and this
dehydrates the system. Go in for natural choices like coconut water, fresh
fruit juice and our good old plain water.
2. Eat light-
Sour, hot and spicy food should be avoided. Instead opt for bitter, sweet and
astringent dishes. Fennel, mint and coriander are spices that cool your system.
Add them to cooking. Avoid mustard seed and do not add dried ginger to your
food when you cook. This flares up the system and heats the body.
3. Go slow-
This is surprising but true! When the
summer temperature rises, the temperature of our body rises too. We tend to work and think faster. This gives
birth to hot temper, stress and ill
health. Summer is the time when we need to go slow. We should devote more time
for sleep, relaxation and check our thoughts. Resort to yoga, meditation or
simply lie down and rest.
4. Skincare-
Rashes and sunburns mar our appearance. Coconut oil is a good heat reliever.
Massage the body with it and bid adieu to rashes and sunburns forever.
5. Go lightweight-
Clothes during summer should allow you to breathe. Go light weight with natural
fabrics like cotton, silk and linen.
